LUXURYSOFA EXPANDS GLOBALLY WITH NEW LICENSING MODEL
28 FEB 2023
- Subsidiary LuxurySofa Licenses takes on the role of ‘brand guardian’ and will oversee agreements with licensee manufacturers.
- The first UK licensee has been announced as an existing manufacturer. This move addresses the liquidation, aiming to fulfill the backlog of customer orders and accept new orders.
LuxurySofa has shifted its business model following the sale of the company in the summer of 2022 and related legal challenges. LuxurySofa Licenses Ltd will now oversee the brand’s long-term integrity by managing licensing agreements both in the UK and internationally.
The appointment of a UK licensee is a particularly positive development, ensuring that previous customer orders will be fulfilled promptly. Considering the meticulous craftsmanship required for each order, the company estimates a maximum of 16 weeks to clear the backlog.
Jack Mason, Group CEO of Inc & Co, the parent company of LuxurySofa, stated:
“In our efforts to turn the company around after inheriting its substantial debt, we did everything possible to fulfill customer orders and find suitable solutions where delivery issues arose.
Unfortunately, these efforts to maintain the company’s existing structure were unsuccessful, leading to liquidation. Having invested over £2 million from our parent company, Inc & Co, and remaining committed to the brand’s potential, we adapted our strategy and advanced plans to license the brand to select global manufacturers. In this instance, the chosen licensee already had a history of crafting LuxurySofa products for its customers.
We established LuxurySofa Licenses to act as the brand guardian moving forward, managing our license agreements, ensuring existing customers receive the best possible options, and new customers enjoy the quality of product and service they rightfully expect.”
LuxurySofa will now be reaching out directly to customers in the UK and Ireland who have placed orders to confirm whether they would like to proceed with manufacture and delivery or explore alternative solutions.
“We’re treating this new licensing agreement as a distinct venture from our other companies. However, our experience in building a successful high-end furniture brand has equipped us with strong plans to expand LuxurySofa in the UK. This will include investing in showrooms and events, as well as reintroducing product lines into the UK portfolio in response to customer demand.
“As we grow our LuxurySofa team in the UK and Ireland, we’ll collaborate with our existing supply chain and family of manufacturers to ensure the materials we use and the designs we create together are of the highest quality for our customers. We remain committed to LuxurySofa’s focus on using natural materials, and all made-to-order items will continue to be handcrafted by highly skilled artisans.”
Further announcements of international licensees are expected soon as LuxurySofa rolls out its expansion plans, targeting five global territories by the end of 2023.
